Hey guys!
Im lucky the EA's got a dizzy, heh heh... Wondering if many of you people have had a dyno tune, and if they do alter the base ignition timing what are the best offsets??? Or should I just stick with the default 10°BDTC... I've heard some stories that some set it to around 35°BTDC Is there a safe margin, anyone using other settings that come out good?

advance it bit by bit and see how far you can get it without it pinging!
after you advance it though, run a better fuel than just unleaded .. |

i run 16 and it made a big difference to the 6 it was running. i could prob put it at 18 or more but that would mean i would have to run it on ultimate all the time

That is for later models where the factory setting is 30 degrees already. As said, just advance it a bit at a time, normally you can get 4 degrees more advance without any problems and 6-8 if you run decent petrol. |

I brought this topic up for another reason also...
Before I checked my timing with a light about a year ago... I rekon it could have been easily around 30 degrees... it was WAAAYYYY off... but the car seemed to run fine, no probs... then I re-adjusted it, and now its set just a bit before the IGN mark (about 8 degrees). It was dyno'ed at this setting and I got 98.5 rwkw. I gotta find my extention bar and 13mm socket now, I'll have a go and see if I can advance the timing without burning my hands off. I work on the EA a lot, Im sick of the reputation that Falcons are only 'taxis' or at least they are so common that they are nothing special compaired to the 'BLING BLING' import or Commonhore. This is my chance to show people that Falcons are awesome machines, these cars ain't just ex-taxi, faded paint, bumper missing, ticking smoke blowin buckets.

Yeah, my dads a cabbie... he let me drive the silver service around for a bit... nice car them, with the talking GPS in them.
Picked me up the other day in a AU Yellow cab... the suspension was shot, and I think the crownwheel may have been missing a few teeth. My dad just floggs the s**t outta it and laughs the whole way... piss funny, Falcons are great!
