I've found mine have always been louder firing into the back of the car.

Rear loading the subs usually get the best results ... and the bigger rattles.

I have a 13" boxed sub sitting on the back seats facing forward and i notice that you feel the bass beats hit you and your seat. It may not be reverberate as loudly as it would facing the rear, but i enjoy the blast you get when a note hits. Plus, you can see how crazy the speaker pumps when it's up loud.

I once owned an EA S pack and had a single sony 12 inch powered by a 4x50 JVC amp.
It got a reading of 131dB (Sony running a dB comp in Newcastle done the reading) facing backwards away from the seats with the centre seat section down. It acted like an extra big box. I used to always get asked if I had a 15inch sub. Can't wait until I get around to installing subs to the BF.

I have built a few loud sound quality stereos in large sedans. For best results the bass has to reflect off a hard surface (a sound deadened boot wall or boot lid) then back into the car. Fire them backwards. This will mean the bass from the sub woofer will be significantly louder than the bass absorbed and retransmitted by the chasis. It will appear louder, clearer and with greater impact. Bass absorbed and retransmitted by the chasis is delayed so it sounds blured. The reflected bass overpowers this and is faster so it will match up with your other speakers very well.
Good luck! |
