hi guys my el xr6 engine is a bit tired and i want to put a au xr6 motor in it what needs to be changed? is there a thred on this

yes there is several threads

search is your friend

u will need to modify the sump and run a dizzy
etc

you can use the el one but the 2 bottom holes dont line up..
if your not happy about not having the 2 lower bolts
you will need a au bellhousing

if you do this way you will need an engineers certificate to make it legal.

AU xr6 motor - doubt you will be able to run the VCT version, probably have to stick with the HP one.

Hi Vince,
Read the sticky on engine retrofit at the top of this [the 6cyl] forum. There are also plenty of threads with pictures of the cut and shut AU sump mod around, even on E-bay. The talk is that it costs about $100 to have someone do it.
Troyman's doco is a good read too for anyone fitting an AU although you have all the EL bits already.
BTW the engine and diff are going great, used EL upper arms on the diff and it runs sweet, so far so good.

i dont know about in victoria but i modified the front of the k frame of mine and it didnt need a endineers cirtificate..

i even took it to a engineer and he told me not to worrie about it

Yeah sounds about right, in VIC you cant even put a window sticker on legally without an engineers certificate or EPA test.....

Yea all they did was a trim and reweld and s**t and that work was done by a a guy I know that works at a wreaker and has done this many times and all is fine with it so 2nd that TROYMAN.
