Hello all,
Don't know alot other than what I have read and trying not to read!! keeping it simple I have an EF I6 duel fuel and I have flogged it a bit, still runs quite well but not like it used to so it s**t me! At the end of the day I want a strong engine not really interested in forced induction as I like having insurance. I have a stock ecu- will change that at a later date, soon hopefully. Already have after market cam & exhaust- makes a nice noise but I am a bit over it. Anyway- has anyone had ANY problems with ACL Race Pistons? I am looking at getting prt no. 6MKRY9400, includes rings & pins, 1mm over sized for $420 incl gst. Then I started reading some bad things about them, mind you it wasn't related to FORD engines. Has anyone heard of Hypatec? They are made by Percision. ARGO make con rods. They suggested for performance BA could be the go- if they fit' After reading a thread here on the same subject I'll give that a miss. For $2000 they will make EF rods- might say no to that idea. Would AU rods fit? (might buy some enhanced ones) But do I need them as I understand that stock rods can handle up to 700hp- is that right? But maybe spending a little extra will enhance the whole package?? My head hurts

I have a stock ecu- will change that at a later date, soon hopefully. make sure your insurance will cover the after market ECU. if not they are pretty easy to conceal unless the rods in your engine are bent/stuffed i wouldn't be bothered getting new ones as they will handle more than a N/A motor can give them most of the time. |

I was thinking that if its not too much more $$$ 'most of the time' could be 'all of the time'.

I know of a few ford sixes with the factory TRW rods being reved to 6500rpm. If you keep the revs to 6000rpm MAX you'll probably never break one. (that doesn't mean it'll sit at 6000rpm for ever though)
the 6inch long AU-BA-BF rods are not as strong as the the late ED to early EL TRW 5.88inc rods. as for acl race pistons again keep to 6000rpm and you'll probably never break one. A bad tune can break even the strongest of engine parts. |
