Hey guys,
Just wondering what size are the front speakers in an au 2 and what depth are they as i am looking to upgrade the whole sound system. Also what depth size can i go up to and does any one know or have a doco on how to remove the door trims. I would do it myself but i dont wanna break anything. Any info would be awesome. Cheers and merry xmas n happy new year to all

undo any visable screws and just. pull the clips are cheaper to replace than paying someone to do it for you..
just about any 5x7's will fit and clear the window glass, ive got cadence speakers front and rear and they do just fine, i'm not even gona bother with a sub for mine

Thanks for the help guys. I was looking at some spacers for them will the mount onto the door speakers easy cause i want to put 6x9's in the front, or is it easier to just attach them to the kick panels.

Dont put 6x9s in the front. Get your bass from the back. You can fit 6x9 in the back without cutting if you use spacers. I got 18mm mdf ones. I put eclipse 5x7 up front and endes up with component 6.5" cos they soung better.

No, you dont want bass from the back as such, 6x9s still pout out midbass, and you want midbass in front of you. you have subbass coming from behind you, not becuase its the best place but generally you can put a decent sub in a proper enclosure in front of you can you? also subbass is far less directional, and its harder to distinguish its origins.
if you want to do it properly then get yourself a set of 6.5" splits for the front, and 6.5" coaxials for the rear. with a bit of metal trimming and few pieces of mdf you will have far better, clearer and punchier sound up front than 6x9s/5x7s could ever dream of. of course, you'll need an amp capable of 50rms+ per channel. not including sony, kenwood, cheap pioneer, jvc, cheap jbl, boss etc etc for your installation. |

Gona probably go with jbl 5x7's for the front. What setup have any AU owners got at the moment. Just wondering what options i have? Are the jbl speakers any good??? Any pics of AU setups would be great as well.
Thanks guys

have just made some brackets out of MDF and covered them with leather... was told a set of cadence 5x7 speakers with specs close to my alpine type-r's only just fit and hit a piece of foam when the window moves so if you can find its specs i wouldnt go any deeper than them... there around 100wrms and 200max
