Hey guys, haven't had too many problems with the coon, besides this revving problem that just started happening this morning, the clutch seems fine and so does first gear but when i put my foot down on the accelerator in any other gear the car revs up to 4g and stays there while the car tries to gain speed up to those revs..
Any help? |

Definately sounds like clutch, can you smell a burnt clutch after you stop the car?

it will be the clutch, when you get the oil warm/hot it will start to slip. depending on how long you drive for and how hard you push it will depend whether it will slip or not. i can drive my telstar a fair distance without it slipping, but if i put the revs up its guts it will slip big time.
You need to replace pressure plate/ clutch etc..

does the car rev past 4k with the clutch out?
if the clutch was slipping the rev's would keep going up and the car wouldnt accelerate/accelerate slowly. well that how my car was when the clutch was on its way out. unless the clutch is slipping and then grabbing again. i ask cause i had another problem with my car where the rev's would reach a certain point and then wouldnt accelerate. ended up being the cat collapsing and stopping flow past a certain point. but prob clutch lol.

yeah the car revs passed 4g fine..
I'm also thinking that the clutch cable may need loosening? because a lot of the time when i put my foot under the clutch and i can pull it out it won't happen... |

it does sound like a slipping clutch, but maybe not becuase its buggered, but like you said above it may need adjusting.
when you change gear, how far do you have to push it in before you can change? ideally it needs to be just off the floor. Mine doesnt slip at all, after a flogging/burnouts/drops etc, but to change gear you really need to have your foot flat to the floor, and to get back into first, through the floor. |

it sounds like your clutch cable is fried you say it doesnt do it in 1st but will do it in 2nd 3rd & so on i think you will find that after you use the clutch to change out of 1st the inner cable is grabbing the outer cable and holding pressure on the clutch plate causing it to slip a little when you pull the clutch out with your foot it will push the cable back and take the pressure off the clutch until you use the clutch again and the same thing will happen ( i would replace the clutch cable)
