WOW! my car was hesitating and not making pritty faces, stalling out and coughing just after startup for 5 seconds or so and now its working great!

so heres the million dollar question... i havent made any adjustments to the car, nothing was taken off and put back on, the intake manafold gasket was sprayed with carby clean to test for leaks. no leaks found.

what fixed the problem? theres still a slight miss at idle but other than that the problem has almost gone away

i had the same problem with my focus, only the problem was a dirty throttle body, give it more of a clean and see how it goes.

Sounds like Water near the Dizzy.... comes good when it all dries out. Also water in the spark plug recesses will do the same thing. Dont suppose you cleaned your engine?

Or drove on an incredibly wet day?

Or through something resembling a puddle?

its been coughing and causing problems for a year. i'll tell you now, its not water. its no where near as bad as it was.

i even replaced the coil dissy plugs leads and didnt change it.

i dont think it was bad fuel.

My XR6 fixed itself too. Used to stutter a little bit ages ago and the one day it worked great haven't had a problem since.

when i put the new leads on, i got leads 5 & 6 mixed up and the lead on 5 is now a little short and stretching over the rocker cover. #6 is also touching the vac line.

im doing the rock cover gasket and checking the plugs. i think i'll try to swap the leads over
