I have a prob with smart lock. to save time this here is the post http://www.fordmods.com/forums/smart-lo ... 58985.html

Well i have replaced the B.E.M and it's still screws up at times. I give that B.E.M a kick while the Key is in the ON position and car starts.
So does any one know what els could be stopping the smart lock working?

after reading your other thread, try playing with your shifter. the (!) lights up when you try to crank the motor and it is in gear.

The only Light on the cluster i look at is the smart lock one, but i think the ! comes on for while the car is starting when it starts of turns off. and i am sure it comes on all the time. even when it start the first time

The brake fail light (!) comes on during cranking regardless of anything else - it's a self test feature.
Sounds like there may be a connection issue with the BEM pins/plugs.

You'll need to drop the BEM down, and do some wiggle tests on the plugs.
Visit the EF Smartlock/BEM doco for the pin outs, and try a shorting strap on the stater motor in and starter motor out lines -don't know if this will work (Smartlock might stop it), but it's worth a try.
It may be your replacement BEM has dry joints also, being a secondhand one.
