gdayi have a ef ex-taxi sedan. i was wondering if taxis had a different computer? maby for smoother shifts/take offs etc?
i can get a xr6 computer from a guy i work with, but will it make a difference in preformance, since everything else on my taxi is factory. will it have probs with the tickford gas system? cheers stepto |

You will need to retain you current ECU for the tickford gas system to work as wired, you can modify the wiring to cut the injectors but you will be going backward as the dual fuel ECU has the optimum ignition curves for both LPG and petrol.

yeah but not all taxis ran a factory tickford system..
some may just have a normal Gli ecu i would have thought changing the ecu would present no problems at all

The Tickford gas computers work a treat I've fitted one into my EF ghia factory Tickford motor and computer no loss in power on petrol or gas now...main reason for the swap was dual fuel
as stated above by twason and snap0964 the main ecu is an integral part of the gas system If you want more performance it might be time to look at the bolt on side of things... extractors, exhaust, panel filter maybe even cam and head work Kev
