what is the fix for the "Clunk" in the BA diff's when they change gear ?

um, as far as i know, replace it.
i haven't been in one yet that hasnt done it even a little bit. its a common problem and ford, as far as i know they wont replace it

most likely the bushes that hold the diff into the cradle. there is 3, 1 main larger rubber bush and 2 smaller on either side. it is very common for the rear one to flog out, causing the diff to clunk when loaded, once the rear one goes the side ones dont take much longer. its a fairly big job to replace the bushes. diff cradle out, diff out and ford special tools to replace the bushes. thats the most common problem, if not that then maybe the diff itself is noisy

yeh if its cluncks when changing gears its probably the bush at the rear of the diff.
there is a new level one avaliable now too |

excellent cos my xr8 freakin clunks when changing gears, is it a problem that should be fixed asap or can it wait?

i got the same problem, as soon as you hit it, drops down a gear and big bang from the rear end...been happening for 3 years now, still going =]

it is odd, the Ghia does it the Family wagon doesn't both similar K's

i fix taxi's for a living, ba's bf's & au's. we need to replace diff bushes in ba's every 60,000km. some of them its every 100,000km. depends on the driver i think.
we had a bf sedan in the other day with 55,000km and it had a broken rear diff bush but the 2 front bushes were ok. bf's have larger bushes but this still didn't fix the issue. |
