as above. my eb now has power windows! didnt take all that long. did it all my self. the hardest part was going to all the wreckers and finding an ebii or ed fairmont or above (becuase of smartlock) with the original un-tamperd wirinng harness. coz most of them has queer aftermarket alarms n s**t. n i cbf mucking around with that.

but i found one and got to work. now its all done and complete. im proud. i chucked on my eb gt door trims and it looks mint.

feel free to ask questions or whatever. i pretty much only posted this to offer help as i know lots of people wanna do it. and ive done it. :)

thanks guys.

Jamie,
Did you have to run extra wires into the doors to power the motors? If so, how did you do it and where from?
I had the rear door trim off my EB2 [smartlock/abs] and could only find wires for the door locks ie. no provision for power windows. I haven't lifted the carpet yet so don't know if any connectors are hidden there.
I have an EB2 Fairmont as a donor car, so I can transfer the body loom if I have to but many threads say that if one has the ABS/S_Lock loom already, all the power window leads should be there. Was that the case with your car?
Also, what size bolts did you use to replace the rivets?
I have to do this conversion next week and any advice on saving time would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for posting your offer to help.
Cheers,
Paul

i just used a ten mm nut and bolt combo for the regs. (bolts need to be very short obviously),

as for the wiring, i got the wiring from the fuse box to the rear of the car, and the wiring out of all the doors. then i just stripped out my whole car, and took out my wiring, then replace it with my "new" wiring harness.

if you need any help pm me. jamie.

As far as E series is concerned, 4 x manual winder cars will have the yellow power wire to the fuse box - that's it.
AFAIK, there are no front power windowed only EA-ED, either all 4 x doors or none.

With the 2 front powered doored EF/EL's - i.e. XR's and Futura's, only the futuras have the extra wiring provisioned to the rear doors - the internal looms just need to be added - XR's have only wiring for the fronts, and that's it.

Thanks Jamie and Snap, looks like I'll be transferring the lot then, I was hoping to save a little time that's all.
Cheers,
Paul

or you could make your own power window loom like i did.
i used all the factory plugs and switches got a few different colour lengths of wire. and soldered and joined all the wires to the plugs and taped it up and joined it to the fuse box..

but i have since conected the power windows directly to the battery via a fuse.
now i can wind the windows up and down without the ignition on

and if i ever sell or wreck the car i can remove the loom and regs and use them in another car.

Troy,
You have at least 2 things I don't and one of them is talent with a soldering iron, just ask BenJ about my aversion to soldering! LOL
It's a good idea but with my kids the windows would never stop moving when parked.
I have the loom from the donor Fairmont ready to use, I just haven't stripped the GLI yet and didn't know what to expect.
Hope to see you on the Newcastle cruise.
Cheers mate,
Paul
