Got a leak with my heater hose. In the spot where the metal hose connects to the rubber heater hose. I have taken the rubber hose off and the leak is coming from the adaptor. Does anybody know if this adaptor is fixed to the metal hose, or it can be removed and replaced? If so, how is it removed? I see no screws or clamps holding it on and with a little bit of mussle it wont seem to budge....

This one?
If it is, you can buy a hose with or without it. Without it its longer but cheaper. Just clamp it on. The other thing is... ur not talking about the heater tap are ya?

^^^^^Been busy with the EF again Andrew ??????
I think that's the junction he's meaning - the one with the metal pipe that comes around the back of the block. I got a pair of sidecutters, and carefully cut/peeled that plastic adaptor off the pipe - the bare pipe has a lip, so you can slip the heater hose over it and clamp it - should make for a more reliable seal.

Thanks guys - that is the exact hose i mean. The metal one that comes round behind the engine, and connects to the hose shown in the pic. I had a look at Cov's yesterday and noticed that it is available with or without the adaptor...
What do you guys recommend? Get the one without and just clamp straight on to the metal hose? or will the adaptor slide easily over the steel hose and be easy to do... Thanks for your help... Stuck out in the country with not a lot of tools handy... |
