Hey,
I just reset the ECU in my car in hope of fixing something, but now it has just created another, worse problem. I will drive, and when I take my foot off the accelerator(not all the time, but quite often) my car will just die of all power, loose power steering, lights dim(but don't completely go off), car engine just stops. I've driven around for nearly 45mins and it slightly improved, but it still does it. Any ideas? Thanks |

did u disconnect the battery to reset the ECU? perhaps u didnt tighten the earth cable enough? just a thought.

I've checked the terminals, and also taken em off and re applied. Still no difference, it sorta seems to be getting better as I keep driving..but i dont know :S could just have a phase of being ok then go really bad again. Big issue is I need my car in the morning for work

it sounds like your idle speed might be a bit low. try raising the base idle a bit. BTW is it auto or manual?

oh by the way, it could also just be the ECU relearning everything since you reset it.

theres a screw on the throttle body (i think) u tighten it in park and the idle will rise up.

Mm too bloody dark for me to work that s**t out, and im overly tired. I think your right..about it learning everything again. Coz i went driving for about an hour..then came back. Then just went to drop sisters boyfriend home and when i was driving 40-50km it would be fine..pretty much. But on way back on one street i sped up to nearly 80, and at the next corner it died.

IIRC theres a little schedule you follow so the ECU relearns itself properly... its on here somewhere... f*cked if i know where it is lol

Relearning schedule.
1 vehicle in park start vehicle and let idle for 2 minutes 2 without touching accelerator turn a/c on and continue to let idle for another 2 minutes 3 apply handbrake, turn A/C off and put in drive let idle for 2 minutes. 4 turn A/C back on and continue to idle for 2 minutes. 5 Turn steering side to side SLOWLY for 2 minuted. 6 Turn motor off. Vehicle should now behave normally when idling in ALL conditions

just a thought, it might b the module on the side of your distributor?? going from your discription, it only happens mostly after you drive it for a while, my eb used to do the same thing till i replaced it...

take a look at the vac line on the fuel pressure reg. if its damaged, after the reset, the computer will REALLY struggle to compencate around it.
(found mine today was incapible of holding a VACCUM!) i replaced the oxy sensor for better fuel economy and reset the ecu, and then the computer didnt know how to tune for it. 5 cent part? i spent $700 on ignition and other misc parts. f**k
