Hey guys
I am just about ready for the final few pieces on my blown BA XR8 project, but have been a little concerned about whether my injectors are gonna be up to the task. I am running twin 600hp fuel pumps, but the injectors are only 42lb/hr EV6 bosch motorsport units. I originally fitted them for N/A use, but now will be running 2 seperate states of tune, for the street 10psi & for weekends a pulley change & reflash to 14.5psi. The engine should produce around 500kw safely, but are the injectors gonna be big enough with a little headroom for safety? cheers kenny

From a mallory fuel rail kit
Injector size is detirmend by HP, multiply HP by .62 for injector size According to same brochure 600hp is ok with 38lb injectors, but allow 25% bigger for Forced or NOS. These are quoted at 40psi rail pressure So convert 500kw to HP, equals 670hp 670hp x .62 = 41.5 so therefor 42lb will be ok NA allow 25% headroom and you end up with 53lb and hour Hope that helps Brett

Cheers for that Brett, I originally thought they were up to it by doing similar calculations, but had different advice from a couple of "well known" tune shops, that convieniently had some 60lb sets in stock.
From experience using an injector that is too big for the lowest state of tune to be used, there are problems with accurate metering of the fuel resulting in rapid wear on inj's, and a comprimised tune (too rich down low). kenny

Nah, she wont be ready for bout a month
when I took it off the road I had a few plans, but it has turned into a full ground up rebuild. So far the suspension has been done, detroit lok diff fitted along with a dampened brass button clutch and the box has been setup to handle more. Engine has been blueprinted and cnc ported heads fitted along with many (all) other bits replaced I am just on the last few coats on the exterior and fitting the new body kit. Its been a big job, but will be worth it!
