Hi,
Guy's I've got a set of Monroe GT Gas Shockers to fit to the rear of my EL xr8,the passenger side "floats" at present and I'm having gas fitted shortly, so I thought it best to do them now rather than later. I plan to do the job at home myself, has anyone done this alone and had problems? (I'll take all precautions) and apart from hand tools and a trolley jack do I need any other tools ie ramps and stands which I have. Basically is there anything about the job that I should watch out for? The rear end is not the IRS model. Thx.in advance. Regards, Gary. |

yeah i found with my shocks there was a clunking noise when i put the GT Gas in. It was worse then the f**k stock ford ones.
Took it to this guy that works on cabs and he said ohh its a defect in half GT Gas shocks. Tapped the base with a hammer and it was fine. Just follow the manual on how to change the shocks.

i did mine about 2 weeks ago.
it never hurts to have a mate/partner/annoying neighbour or kid around to stand on ur axel to get ur shocks out. apart from that its all pritty straight forward. |

changing rear shocks would have to be one of the easiest jobs u can do
jack up car and remove rear wheels and place stands under rear axles lay down rear seat and remove plastic corner covers to gain access to top of shocker remove top shocker nut - hold top of shocker shaft with a small shifter or mole grips and undo nut undo bottom shocker bolt and remove lower the shocker out thru the spring installation is reversal of above - with note - make sure bottom bolt is very tight else you will have a knocking niose that will drive you nuts and it is not a bad idea to retension in a couple of weeks time with the full weight of the car on it |

answered it myself... shocks do slide out pretty easy its the same for S3 and the springs are free to come out after the shocks have been removed... its just a bit tight getting them out...
