I've got a C4 auto from a cleveland here, it's going in my capri and I'm about to start making the lines to go up to the filter+cooler and I need to know of the two connections in the side of the box which one is the inlet and which one is the outlet?
any help appreciated |

The one to the rear of the box is the [hot] outlet, the hole nearer the front is the inlet [cooler return].
I haven't worked on a C4 for a long time and this is from memory but most boxes work the same as they are low pressure feed, ie ventilated. So the oil flows 'back' through the box and is pumped out from the rear to the cooler after it's done its work and become heated. Paul

No - its the other way around,
The front fitting on the C4 is the hot line, the back fitting is the cold line. This info is also available on the TCI website |

The only thing you would have had to change was the lay of the filter if it's directional, you wouldn't have hurt the box. In a custom installation you should visually check your flow anyway, easy done with a couple of clear plastic tubes and two m/t ATF bottles at the cooler.
I probably should wait for 66 coupe on this [LOL] but Dexron 3 in a C4. You might want to check out the links that 66 coupe provided above, there's a lot of valuable info there on C4s and cooling systems [see FAQs]. Paul
