Gday, Im getting some rust repairs done around the bottom corners of my rear window in the XB. Will be cutting and welding. The guy doing the welding is concerned about welding with the LPG tank in the boot. Hes worried he might get blown up ! Should I remove the tank? Or will it be safe as long as I shut off the gas at the tap and purge the lines of anything left, and leave the tank where it is.
Cheers.

Funny, the gas is on the inside of the tank.
Enough ventilation should be fine, however, Thinking smart and worksafe are both good idea's Small/External welding, no-where near the tank I'd do without removal, but for the sake of your shed, lives, animals and property, I'd undo the 4 bolts and lines and remove it! hell if its full, He's even there to help remove!

Well, if it's dual fuel, and you are worried, you could delay the repairs, run the LPG tank empty, run on petrol, and LPG fill up after the repairs.

No - straight gas.

I would suggest removing the tank if you can to be safer. If you can syphon gas, I'd say do that... phong =P~

A full tank is less explosive than an empty one. That said, go and get the gas installation checked for leaks prior to the work.

Well all the work is done. A great job too. If anyone needs rust repairs done, I can recommend Michael who did mine. No bodgy job . He plates and Migs everything, and he usually doesnt mine if you watch him work (so u can see its done right).
If u need some work done, give him a call and tell him I (Paul - Mulberry XB) gave you the number Michael Black (Blacky) Ph: 040 800 4116

Hey Joe Well he was a bit nervous about it but he spoke to his old man who has been a panel beater for 30 odd years and his dad said he'd be ok to leave it in. Do a leak test on it and if all was good, then cover it with damp rags and a fire blanket. ......Did that, job was finished and Im still here ! - no bangs lol.
p.s. Must get out to you in the near future for a good tune ! Cheers.
