Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked but i thought i might aswell ask it.

Got some shocks and springs the other day
and ive been told how to change them over but just would like a few more tips and extra pointers on how to change the rears on my own.

rear springs are a piece of piss mate, have you got a sedan or a HAWT wagon?
what model car?

oh nah i got sedan EF Fairmont

rears are pretty easy:
you undo the bottom bolt holding the strut in, and the top nut and it should drop out
jack the car up and support it on chassis stands to make it easier.
fronts are a bit harder.

i'll try in bit more detail this time

remove plastic mounds behind the rear seat undo the shock bolts there chock front wheels jack up the rear (off the body) until the shock pins become loose remove the shock (compress it and remove by hand or lever bar) remove the spring

place new shock or shock removed in place compress the shock fit in where it goes fit the spring uncompress the shock until it reaches shock mounts (may have to lower bits at a time) tighin bolts lower car back down

make sure the spring is sitting in place correcty ummm i think the flat end of the spring is the diff end i cant remember

u may a spring compresser if ur using shorter shocks im not sure i didnt need em
while ur doing it check all bushes and replace if needed thats about all i can think of

best to get a mate to help ya gets much easyer think of it as a puzzle u may have to be ruff getting the old springs out dont be worryed about going to town on the springs with a lever bar

1 more thing while working with wheels off the car put the car body on axle stands trolleys can s**t it or fall off etc

Workshop manuals have diagrams and pictures too, you should have one if you attempt the fronts yourself. It can be done easier, quicker and safer when following the manual. Save you money too.
