Hey guys, I bought a second hand sound system off ebay couple days ago for a bargain, anyway it came with 2 10" subs, but I have no clue what model they are as it recommends on the sub tutorial to check with manufacture if possible on how much volume of air the sub needs, and it'd be nice to know couple other figures.
Otherwise I might use the figure offered an just round them up. thanks anyway.

Nah nothing at all, all I have is spl logo and it's a 10", theres a little corrosion on the base where I'd normally expect it or maybe it was just a sticker thats been pulled off, because all i have is spl logo.

Well I payed 100 for the 2x 10" subs 2x 4" and 2x 5" pioneer tweeters, all the wiring a sony head unit and a kenwood KAC-7252 amp.
Ok I'll have a look down that path then thanks.

MY bet is cheapie as well going off the size of the magnet. my old alpine s 10" had a much larger magnet.

Ahwell, thanks anyway, we ended up just using the recommendations from the tutorial for the box. Couple other questions though, with running the power through to the engine bay for the battery. Anybody got any advice on where's best to run it through the firewall?
Also I've been under the impressions earths should be the same size or thicker than the power, yet the guy I got the system off was running a noticeabley thinner cable than the 4 gauge power cable he had provided, is this safe to use? or should I spring the 10 bucks for a meter of 4 gauge as an earth?.

The ground cable should be the same size or bigger than the power.
Also keep the ground wire as short as possible as this will give a better / stronger ground. I suggest putting the ground on one of the bolts that hold the seats in

The ground cable should be the same size or bigger than the power.
This is a complete phalacy like a lot of the accepted "LAWS" of car audio, every cable has a ohm/metre rating so if you use 5 metres of a cable that has a total resistance of "x" ohms then the ground only needs to be of the same total resistance according to "REAL" electrical principles. So to summarize the ground needs to be able to handle the current in proportion to the length of run. So if it makes you feel better run a similar size cable but you would absolutely NEVER need a larger ground cable.....

True about the same resistance and ohm rating but most people don't bother / don't know how to calculate.
As a rule of thumb run the same size ground (the simple version) bigger is not needed true but it does not hurt
