Gday all
due to some prat coating a roundabout in oil for s**t & giggles i am now looking at (Aside from a new rim) an LSD, what happened is i smacked my right rear rim into a box kerb, it appears to have jumped the kirb and somehow put a decent size hole rite in the middle of the diff, im thinking the whatt's linkage mite have ripped it clean out, The car is an EF fairmont ghia, what im curious to know is wether, a non LSD back plate will fit an LSD, and dose anyone think there mite have been some more unseen damage done? as it appears i mite get away with just replaceing the back plate. cheeres all steve |

The housing may be bent but the LSD and non LSD housings are the same but EF and EL are not interchangeable you need an EF non XR or ED, EBII cover may work as well.

They're the same, LSD and Non LSD.
EF and EL are different tho. EF watts linkage sits lower. Make sure you get the correct type for your car. EF has no provision for the handbrake cable and is routed via a flex tube above the housing. EL has a groove for the handbrake cable to sit in over the housing.

As twason said I think EB-ED (sedans) are the same as EF.
EL are totally different. I understand EF XR is the same too, EL's were revised.

trust me mate, there is none more sorry than myself.
like i said at least i wasnt being a d**k. ah well its all fixed now and a word ot the whise EA-ED cover will NOT fit EF there identical bar the drain plug. which may be able to be drilled out but meh....XR6 diff now...higher ratio |

if thats all the damage you did be happy.
when i lost mine, i ripped half the diff back plate off, but along with that, i also wrote off my EL GT (copy) rim, as well as my axle, bent the s**t through the axle flange on the end off the diff, and the caliper mount bracket, and chewed a big grove in my brake rotor. now some tossers have covered the corner i lost it on in oil aswell. good to hear your all aright and cars back okay though. |
