I have an EL Fairmont and at the moment i am running a 4*50W Sony Explode Headunit with the factory 8 pioneer speakers through the car. Sound is pretty good for basically stock speakers with after market head unit.
I am thinking about replacing the 2 factory rear 6in cone speakers with some 3-way 6in sony explode speakers. Would this help with Bass/treble improvement over the stock Pioneers all am i just wasting my time. Anyone out there, know the power rating of the factory 6in Pioneer speakers they came out in the Fairmonts?? Cheers.............

6" speakers were never really designed for bass...so the answer is no for bass. Though the midrange and treble would be better. I personally would not go with Sony 6" speakers. There are plenty of other better brands out there including Pioneer after market ones. If you want good sound quality, I would say put splits in the rear...but that's just me.
I think power rating for the factory speakers were along the lines of 40W or something...but that's max. They did take a bit of a beating when I had mine in...sounded not too bad. Good luck with your choice. phong =P~

Anyone running 6*9inch oval speakers and use one of those spacers you get from autobarn so you don't cut up the parcel shelf.

Leave the rears alone, replace the fronts with decent ones and add a sub if you want bass, that way it is done properly....

yeah im currently using the "dna 6x9 spacers" from autobarn there nothing special but they do the job. did have to make a minor adjustment to the base of it to fit the speaker properly though. little bit angry that i had to do some modding after parting ways with 90 bucks for em
