If the gauge is reading normal, why do you think its overheating? Coolant coming out from the radiator cap could be a faulty cap or you could have combustion gases over pressurising the cooling system (??Head gasket or head failure??). combustion gases can be detected in coolant with a test kit.

well its pissing outta the over flow tube ive checked everywhere else, i was thinking the cap could be faulty, used to happen on my lx torana, all i can think of is the radiater being blocked , clogged etc

A clogged radiator doesn't necessarily cause it to overflow. A clogged radiator will cause it to overheat which in turn will cause it to overflow, but you gauge is reading normal. Overflow is usually caused by excessive pressure. Either coolant is overheating, (but again your gauge reads normal), or the cap is faulty, or something else is causing it to have too much pressure, ie combustion gases.

u seem to know more than me, can different coolants cause this? cos just recently ive changed coolant.

Two sorts of coolant in the same radiator can cause big corrosion problems due to the two different chemicals reacting, but i dont think thisd would be whats making it overheat. You flushed the radiator before changing coolants?

yer flushed it, i only recently just had a service, so i doubt it is anything serious like the head gasket etc.

There can be a problem with mixing differant coolants, however I have never seen the results, most glycol based coolants can be mixed together but it is better to clean/flush the cooling system out first before using a differant brand. A phone call to a radiator shop may tell you what the effects of mixing incompatible coolants together are. Personally I'd get the coolant tested, any good mechanical workshop should be able to test your coolant for combustion gases for a small fee of course. It would be worth the effort in the end. I hope I am wrong because if it is you have a expensive problem. You could for now try replacing the cap and see if that fixes it.

Ok just lettin anyone know if they have the same problem, i believe i have fixed the coolant problem, i changed coolants to a more expensive brand and shoved a whole new radiator cap on and it has stopped leaking and seems to be running normal. total cost was about 20 bucks
