Im starting to get the common ticking sound you tend to hear when you start you car in the morning, use to disapear now its starting to stay longer and it starting to annoy me, just wondering what it is, is it the lifters not getting enough oil if it is how much are they and how hard are they to change ?, is it the oil pump not giving enough pressure or on its way out, a mate of mine said it may even be my pick up line from the sump ??? My car is a 180,000km old 96 ELXR6. Just would like to know other people's experience and if they know what it is ?
Thanks baya |

hows the oil level in your car?
are you meaning the normal injector noise? or can you tell its the lifters, IE its loud as f**k and when you increase the revs the noise too increases until it gets warm. my lifters were ticking badly, i just ran some better oil through and it shut up. i also ran premium through it and made it a bit better

oil change and see if that helps. if not, getting some new lifters would be it.

i had the same thing. replaced the lifters. made stuff all difference. if your bottom end has done a bit of work, then the oil pump is prol lazy.
i have new head and cam etc, totally new top end, and it is still noisy for a few seconds after start up. i dont expect the tick will be gone for good till i do the bottom end ei: new oil pump.
