I need to replace the rear pads on my eb but im not sure what to wind the piston back in with help please

had this problem with the ute, my mate whos a break person came around with a special socket tool that just wound them in, you need this tool to do it, belive me i spent the best part of 6 hours and a pack of winnfields trying every crazy idea in the world.

They can be got back in without the special tool. This involves taking the parkbrake lever off the back of the caliper, and using a 13mm open end spanner and wind the shaft in, then push the piston in a bit, then wind the shaft back in again...do this till the piston is all the way in.
Then install the pads, refit caliper, and press brake pedal to get the piston back out to get the pads to meet the rotor. Then adjust the parkbrake lever shaft in till you get it to not bind, but lines up the lever again. This will take practice. I have done this several times over the years with no failures.

You can get the tool from Super Cheap Auto for a few dollars. Makes life sooooooo much easier.

one important note..... make sure the slot is perfectly lined up on the pad and they are sitting flat when pads are squeezed back in..... visually inspect that they are or you will be leaving smoke trails after 15kms.... even the best brake guys get stuck on these, they are bugga's to do.

Use a clamp and a piece of scrap steel/timber to protect the piston, just don't clamp it too much or you can stuff the caliper.
