My ef trans is constantly going into limp home mode even after only driving it at medium pace.Fluid is ok but a bit burnt, runs the radiator trans cooler.Cylinder head has just been done.Had to reset the computer twice today because the trans keeps going into 3rd and staying there.Any ideas

For a start,
Check the connections of the gearbox loom and if your speedo's notchy or irregular check the transducer wiring and connections as well. Paul

Yeah cheers, ill give it a crack. It seemed to only start doing it after i did the cylinder head and gave underneath the car a good clean. Is it possible that water may have got into the trans plug connections?

When my falc kept going into limp home the S4 solenoid in the trans had to be replaced, fixed the problem no worries.

Did it only do it when you put your foot down, coz i can drive along normal but as soon as i give it stick it goes to limp home mode. Will a faulty solenoid show up as a fault if a scan tool is plugged into my car?

Hopefully it was just a little glitch as the ECU relearns.
If you think the trans fluid is off it's best to replace it and the filter ASAP. Cheers, Paul
