i am going to stick a trip computer in my EF Tomorrow and just looking at the Technical Document and there is a couple of things that may cause problems for me. the first ones are with pins 6 and 7 it says wire them to a Illuminated Rear Window Demits tor and the Cigarette Lighter Illumination wires. my Demits tor button does not illuminate and i not to sure but i dont think my Cigarette Lighter does either but that my just be a blown globe. so more or less can i just wire the the extra wires to the Demits tor and Cigarette Lighter anyway or will i have to wire em somewhere els? because other then the cluster and the clim control nothing really lights up. and my second question is do i need cable that can carry "X" amount of amps/volts? or will any do?

Cheers.

cable will be fine and all you need to check for is 12v on the lighting circuit, if there is no voltage then work out why - maybe fuse or broken wire...

Thin s**t'll do, its barely doing anywork.

Theres a globe in the demistor, chances are its blown just as the cig.

Take ur time with the TC conversion, make sure your holding the plug the correct way to obtain the data line (will have to add a pin) and use solder joints and heat shrink instead of bloody tape!

Its a very rewarding item the old TC.

just been looking in my car, cig lighter dont light up but that may be just a blown globe. the Demits tor button is solid (if that makes any sense) the little picture on the button is white so it dont look like it was ever meant to light up.

Demister globe is mounted on top of the switch, its under a plastic holder and its contact legs are wrapped in.

By add a pin do you mean stick one in the plug? or can u just stick the wire in the hole a solder it there?

I mean add a female pin from a spare plug.

You can stick a wire in there, I highly disagree with people that say do it, its like installing a radio with frayed wires and sticky tape.

Its not hard to get a spare plug.
