Hey guys,
Been getting this very annoying thing happening of late. Ill be driving along as per normal, and the ABS warning light will come on and just stay on. In addition to this (with or without the warning light) When braking, usually slow braking, normally coming to a stop, i get this clunking/grinding noise and feeling coming from the brake pedal, and almost a whirr (kind of like a cd ejecting) coming from the glove box. Im thinking ABS issues (der) whether it be mechanical or electrical im unsure. Anyone got any ideas/had this issue before? Cheers Dodd |

I had this happen to my BA falcon about 18 months ago.
The ABS light would come on and STAY on whenever I drove the car, and the brakes would behave funny. It was under warranty so I took it to Ford, they linked it to the diagnostic computer and diagnosed it within about 2 minutes. It was a faulty ABS sensor, they simply switched it over and I was good to go. That's my experience with the ABS light anyway. |

Yup, same. Mine was a faulty left front abs sensor but my abs light would come on and stay on only when I reversed out of a driveway. I also got creaking noises at very slow speed over obstacles but thats another issue i think.

Excellent.. Ill try the ABS sensor first and go from there. If the sensor is faulty, is it likely that the ABS will not engage during extreme braking?

According to the manual, if the ABS light stays on, it means the system has detected a fault with the ABS system and it won't engage under extreme braking. Hence, get it checked by your Ford dealer ASAP. |

Mine does the same wen i got my gearbox done he checked it for me. Turned out it was a dirty ABS sensor on the left front wheel, just take the wheel off and give the sensor a clean before spending money on new sensors it may just be dirty
