I would like to know were the best position for the cat suppost to be.
Right at front just after the extractor or further back were the drivers door is ? JMM has it back at the drivers door & that they told me it gives a few extra kw but did not tell me why. I am talking about a 4.0 L 6cyl e - series

If you use pacemaker 4499 or 4488 extractors then the position of the cat is already moved back a fair bit from the original position.
JMM extractors are similar to the pacemaker tri-y 4499 extractors. The difference being they have extended the secondary pipes an extra foot or more under the car, so the cat has to be mounted roughly in the position of the first resinator on the stock exhaust system.

the bet position for a cat is as close to the engine as possible. this means it warms up and starts doing its job a lot sooner. you'll see this on most modern cars.

I've read somewere on the net that having it further back causes it to not work as effectively, but improves the flow of the gas through it. |
