Hey everyone, i spoke to a guy who knows quite a bit about car electrics about my fuel ratios as where he works (jaycar) make a kit with LED's to show you if it is running lean or rich. He asked me whether or not the color of the exhaust under hard loud was black or blue.

I didnt know the answer, i checked, its neither, there is a white puff as it gets up there, probably the water injection though that is tuned to come on as the boost winds up. So it doesnt blow smoke, but the exhaust has quite a build up of carbon on the tip!

Now he wasnt able to tell me, nor could the guy at AutoTune whether or not my supercharged falcon can have its fuel ratios adjusted without an aftermarket ecu.

My fairmont has the following:
i6, wade cam
pacemaker extractors
2.5 inch exhaust, cat made straight through
JMM 3000 stall
Powerdyne supercharger at 9psi (kit includes an FMU chip to adjust base settings in car to allow kit to run)

Now it runs very well, it kicks a** off the line, but it uses a massive amount of fuel accelerating.
Now:
0 to 30, its hard to keep it under 40L per 100km's
30 to 60, its hard to keep it under 20L and still accelerate.
60 - 80, 14L per hundred
90ish, on a flat road sits on 6L per hundred, not bad i think.

Does anyone know if the Powerdyne FMU (Fuel Management Unit) that plugs into the ecu is programmable? -Atleast a little
So i can get my fuel ratios right, if they are out?

With lpg and a 1500stally, what sort of economy is achievable after a tune for reliability and economy (if there is such a thing) :)

Standard ECU can't be altered - it'll make it's own adjustments as it sees fit. The aftermarket Chip Torque that CAPA give you can be AFAIK.
Those L per 100km's you've quoted above there is that at cruising or is that under acceleration? Also what are they based off the Trip Computer as I doubt the accuracy of that...

Yeah those are the figures from the dash trip computer.
What sort of economy is attainable through an lpg system, removing the stally for a 1500one and a good tune?

best to do it right the first time and get some sort of aftermarket fuel management system. a chip like unichip or chiptorque will do it. if you dont do it right there might be problems down the track

I've got no idea how changing the stall converter will effect your economy.

The CAPA chip iTorque chip they provide is already set up with a generic tune for the particular ECU, injectors etc. on the vehicle. If your worried about it, find someone who deals with Chip Torque and get them to check the A/F ratios and adjust the tune if need be.

LPG economy is poor, it generally uses more litres per kms, but obviously it's cheaper per litre. The plan for my ride to set the LPG up so it's fine for crusing and driving around town etc. I'm just going to stick with the single converter and that. While on gas I just won't ring the crap out of it.

With mine currently running 6 psi I'm getting 12 to 13l/100km driving around - that includes highway, towing a boat, town driving, etc. It's not that bad at all. Thats using BP Ultimate 98 Octane PULP as that's the only 98RON fuel we get down here.

Yeah i run the 98 octane stuff too if i can, where i live 95 is the highest :( (Maybe a bottle of metho will help out)

I doubt the lpg economy will be bad, i mean sure the blower is chewing up 15% of the engine power, but suppling alot of air, forced induction and lpg are a match made in heaven (wiki quote).

I might keep the stally, stick it on lpg and leave it, once it costs half as much and gets a tune i will be happy as larry :D
