Gday everyone, just a quick question regarding the electronic shift kits that make the tranny switch into the next gear quicker..
Whilst im under boost, i get upto 5,500rpm, the car wont change gear until i back off the gas pedal.. And when it does change it seems to slip (since there is a whole heap more power the normal). If i just boot it and dont back off, it will redline and not shift up.. Any thoughts on howto solve my little crisis?? Thanks in advance Matt

I dont know but i dont expect they would have, the car sits on 1850-1900rpm when sitting on 100kph.
Assuming they have 3.45 diff gears according to a guy in another thread somewhere. (Same rpm @ 100kph as my other falcon)

Thats not surprising as the standard auto`s are crap. It sounds like it simply cannot cope with the inceased power and is starting to crap itself. I presume under easy driving conditions it still changes ok. Either get a good five speed or get heavy duty clutches when you get a rebuild. Good luck mate.

What is the car? EFII/L Ghia perhaps - if so should have the 3.45 LSD and ECU to suit.
What happens if you continue to hold your foot down - does it eventually change gears or does it just continue to hold that gear and hit the rev limiter? Is the switch for the tranny set to power or economy? |

Its the EL Fairmont, 97 model, yeah it has that LSD and its ecu with the powerdyne piggyback.
If i hold my foot down it revs out and doesnt change, this is whilst on power, not economy

If i hold my foot down it revs out and doesnt change, this is whilst on power, not economy Fairmont or Fairmont Ghia? So if in economy mode with foot flat down it will change gear? |

Sorry, that was poorly written, i've had it on power (not economy) and it revs out, i havent tried economy.
I get the car tomorrow Will try Matt

my tranny started doing that a few months ago, nearly hitting the rev limiter and slipping into gears. Got it serviced, with full flush and bands tightend and i got a AU S5 solenoid put in and it feels stronger and more crisp then the day i got the car.

How much did the service cost, maybe a new filter, fluid flush and new solenoid might do the trick?
Fluid alone can cause shifting problems, possibly the bands gone too since there is around 200kw's. Thanks for the tip

i think it was around the $500 mark, mainly becuase of the solenoid, also a ball joint where my tailshaft is, had sh!t it self and was leaking and he replaced that so not to sure how much exactly it would be for you. Also my car never goes past 5300rpm anymore, i think because the shiftkit isn't allowing any slipping what so ever into the next gear.

have you fitted an electric shiftkit using resistors?
