hi there i have an ef falcon that has a flashing airbag light which im trying to stop from flashing i at first had a blown fuse and replaced it an need to know how to stop it. also have an el which i think has jumped a tooth in timing is there a quick way to align all timing without the hastle of removing timing cover?

Sorry, can't help with the air bag light.

With the EL ......
What makes you think it has jumped a tooth ??
Have you removed the distributor, cam sprocket or
released the chain tensioner for any reason ??
Is the chain "noisy" ??

If the answer is no to the above, then maybe try
re-doing the timing first.

If you have removed or changed anything, then post back.
Myself or someone may be able to help.

It just needs to be reset from the diagnostics connector, tour the technical documents or do a search to find which pins you need to work on.
As above CAM timing will not slip a tooth in normal operation if it has then this will be the least of your worries..

hi gutza we recently had the head off the el and noticed that the adjuster hadnt been released since new. since we did the head the car has run really bad. i replaced the injectors and other stuff leads, plugs etc but found that advancing the timing made a difference. but we noticed that the base timing is nowhere near the mark as it should be when we tried it there the car wouldnt even accelerate. do you think it could be stretched or jumped a tooth?

my ef futura don the same thing i blew the interior light then the air bag light came on i chechet the fuse it was blown i replaced it then the light started to flash so i cleard the falt codes

OK, Here goes...... other readers, please feel free to correct
if necessary.

Remove rocker cover.

To check for chain slack, grab timing chain at top of cam sprocket.
Pull up - you shouldn't be able to lift it more than a couple of mm's.

If OK, then get TDC on No.1 cyl. TDC not IGN.

Check valves ( IN and EX ) on No.1 are fully closed.
There should be a tiny gap between the HLA tip and the valve stem.

There is a horizontal mark on the cam sprocket, usually
on the passenger side. This mark should be parallel to and
generally a couple of mm's above the head.

So far so good ???

Now the SHI**Y part.....

Remove the Dizzy cap ( good luck )
The rotor should be pointing to a mark on the plastic spacer.
On my EA, the mark is about 1cm in a clockwise direction from where
the connector spout is for the No.1 HT lead on the cap.
IF it lines up then everything should be OK - timing chain wise.

Hope it all makes sense - even I'm a bit confused lol.

There is the possibility that the timing chain may accidentally
have gone slack for a few seconds as you replaced the head and
cam - and the Auxillary Sprocket turned a little ( off the chain ),
which would rotate the dizzy shaft and rotor slightly.

Anyhow, see how you go.
