Hey all,
Ive got 19's with very crap tyres. Now without the obvoius "buy new/better tyres" option (as i dont have the cash ATM to spend $1200 on new tyres), is there anything i could do to reduce road noise? becuase it sounds like ive got off roaders! Im certain there is nothing that can be done, but ya never know. Cheers Dodd |

you can use sound deadener, ie Dynamat Xtreme, and place that inside the doors, on the rear wheel arches, on the firewall etc. you can use felt matting sound deadener under the carpet as well.
A pack of Dynamat is about 200bux, and adds a bit of weight to your car. |

i have a 95 ef futura with 15 inch mags and the usual high profile tyres. I got a set of bridgestones and the moment i drove out of the tyre place it sounded like a offroad tyre whining and i could feel the tread vibrate through the steering wheel. I asked for them to be removed immeadiatly and thet refused because i drove them 1 km on the road and returned back to the fitter then and there,. I have since fitted 225 x 15 bridgestones of a different patern and suited to large heavy luxury cars and all is sweat. Types of tread , even in the same brand makes a big difference in a ef !!!

Thats interesting to know... ill be keeping an eye out when i get some new ones! I might see if i can swap with a mate of mine for a day or something and test what the noise difference is. |
