Hey guys, i want my ford falcon EL 97 to go faster, iv had my exhaust done, got a EL GT snorkle, what else can i do with out spending TOO much money, like im willing to spend heaps, but not more than what my car is worth hehe its already goin 0-100 in 7.9 seconds, i want it to go FASTER!!!!!! i have a need for speed!!!!! so if you got ideas, let me know

Good start with the exhaust and GT snorkel. If you havent got a high flow filter with it then i suggest you get one, makes a difference, well at least it did for me. Much smoother and more responsive. Extractors are good, either JMM or Pacemaker. I know the JMM ones are $400 and $545 for them HPC coated ( plus fitting ). I'm assuming you havent got your diff changed so by getting an xr6 3.45 diff with Lsd would be great. Certainly makes it go harder off the line and more responsive every where in the rev range.

if your el is auto, you can fit a shift kit www.shiftkits.com.au
it's pretty simple, buy the kit, arrives in the post, in the passenger footwell, take the left kick panel off, pull the ecu out, cut some wires as per the instructions, crimp the plastic (i used a stanly knife), solder it up to the module, tape up the soldered joins, pack it all back in and viola you change gears a tiny bit faster |

like XRCIST said, a highflow airfilter works wonders too, though there are some pitfalls There are two main types of filters, pod filters and flat panel filters pod filters are generally a pod shape, foam or cloth over a wire mesh foam is oiled, cloth isn't You should mount this in an enclosed box, easiest option is your OE airbox which has the coldair feed going into it This prevents your filter drawing in hot air from the engine bay which has more mass and thus more air, less fuel equals less power, so keep it enclosed and supplied with fresh air (like your EL GT snorkel does) The pod filter I have used before in and out of an airbox was from unifilter, which manufacture foam filters and supply their own oil IMHO - Foam filters catch a hell of a lot of dirt and dust and are very easy to clean - turpintine in a bucket then reoil, oil is very cheap www.unifilter.com.au OR You can go flat panel filter, foam or cloth, in my falcon I'm using a foam flat panel filter, it flows better than the OE paper one and is very economical to clean instead of replacing a OE one when you get your car serviced or you do it yourself again, from www.unifilter.com.au or if you're in sydney, you can visit them, they're near the top of leighton place hornsby (address is on the website) |

you can also do some weight reduction - try taking the spare wheel out of the boot

Cloth certainly is oiled. I don't know where you got your info from but try telling K & N that their cloth filters don't need oil |

haha - i've never used cloth filters - though, the people that i have run into that do have sworn to me that they don't need to use oil
