Ok so I've come to the alternator part of my V8 capri build.
The alternator that come with my 86 mustang engine is a 2G type I think, it has two plugs in it and I'm not sure how to wire that up to my capri loom. I can get a 100amp chrome GM 1 wire alternator off the shelf pretty cheap and am thinking of using that. But I'd read that the 1 wire units aren't so good if you have your battrey in the boot etc. Otherwise I should use a 3G alternator?? basically I just need some direction on this. I've also been told that EB 6 cylinder alternators would work? |

Well I just bought a new 3G for my new motor and when I saw the connectors on that I though WTF....
But a quick search on google soon found the info I needed and while I was looking around I saw the wiring for a 2G as well. I think the info was on a 4WD forum somewhere..

I found a forum where they call the 2G the 'firestarter' as it is prone to starting electrical fires? something about the 2nd plug wire carrying too much current..

personaly i cant see a problem with the battery in the boot as long as you run an earth the same guage to the front. ive done it and never had any problems with it running an 80 amp alternator.
edit: just realised you ment the regulator circuit, lol :D
