Can you post a pic of the LCD screens?
Is it not just the illumination bulb? Or on the fairmonts there's an adjustment available for the 'contrast' as well.

there has beeen cases of the lcd "segments" (for lack of a better term fading out so you can only see half numbers etc. if this is your problem there was some auto elecs that used to replace them but it wasnt all that reliable, you usually end up having to replace the whole thing which is where fords $600 price tag comes from. If they have just gone dull then try replacing the bulb.

It is a very common problem for Fords window regulators. There is a plastic runner that wears out and allows the window to tilt forward when going up, this causes extra drag on the window, which the motor is not strong enough to overcome. Fix, replace the window regulator, $115 for aftermarket, $150 - $250 new. You can try some silicone spray on the window channels, this can help.

That's who I bought a swapover unit from for my Fairmont.
The sales process was A1+, I had it the next day. Problem is that it started playing up 7 months down the track and now, <2 years later, it's way worse than what I had before. I tried to make contact at 9 months, but the 2 email addresses I had didn't get a response. So BEWARE, it could be a very temporary fix.
