Take it to a tranny place they have a flusher pump thingos.
I can't say I would of put in degreaser myself. |

No corrosives in degreaser as far as im aware, so thought it wouldnt hurt and sounds like a idea hopefully there not too steep on the price

its out of the car hey?
Take it up to allfast and get the boys to split it open and go through it. Better off doing it now while its out. |

I can't remember what it cost me. I had to get it in order for the wrecker to give me warranty. Yeah, my problem with the degreaser is just making sure you get it all out. |

the best way to flush your auto(and torque converter) IMO is to dissconnect the trans cooler lines from the radiator, push on some hose for extra length and run the hoses into a bucket, then start your engine, only run your engine untill the fluid stops coming out.. reconnect trans lines and fill up your auto, if you want to flush it compleatly, leave the hoses connected to the trans lines use a second bucket filled with clean trans fluid and put the suction hose in the bucket, start the engine and just wait untill clean fluid comes out the other hose..

the trans wont 'suck' the fluid up from the cooler circuit, it only has a pressure output to the cooler and a return from it, so you will need to pump the clean fluid in through the filler tube / plug.
If the oil is black then there will be sediment from the burnt friction material in the converter, thats why its best getting it split open and serviced, and possibly changed to a higher stall speed as he has mentioned in another thread. |
