What voltage is the tps set at? the motor is an ef six.Thanks

between 0.55 and 0.85 at ignition on, and idle. Should read 4+ volts at full throttle

i keep mine at 0.84. Make sure you earth the multimeter at the negative wire in the tps sensor plug as it will distort the readings if you use the motor or chassis as earth. Also make sure the reading is the same when the ignition is on and the car running

so you set it with the ignition switched on but the car not running?Whoops my bad i didnt read it properly.Thanks for that info

shouldnt matter, voltage reading should stay the same....... if not then check wiring for possible leaks

the ecu see's part throttle all the time if its set too high.

or if its set too low, it will be unresponsive at light throttle i guess

Why keep the TPS voltage at idle so high?

As the engine heats up, the voltage will get higher. So will generally overstep that .85v threshold.

Best just to set it to around .7v, and it will always be within the idle range.

Cos it tells the ECU when to enter idle mode. So fueling and ISC operation.

It also provide shift point information for the ECU. Bad TPS information can cause harsh shifts and thumping kickdowns.

hmm interesting...

arm can u explain why the voltage changes as the engine heats up??

also how do u test teh voltage at the tps and not the ecu

Like any resistor, when it gets hot, the resistance typically changes and the voltage changes in proportion. Which is why, I assume, Ford recommend .7v with +/- .15v as the idle tolerance.

As for testing the TPS, stick the multimetre pins in the back of the plug and measure.

i checked the voltage on the middle pin of the tps plug (green/black wire) and it was .72V at closed and about 4.3v full throttle
