Any serious modification to the brakes will need an engineers.
Most show cars mount them under the car or on the inside of the fire wall. |

Dunno if this is any help but have you thought about contacting the RS Owners Club? When I had my MK 2 Escort, I recieved alot of tech help from them.
Some of the Escorts I've seen at Small Ford Sunday here in Melbourne in early February each year have alot of mods done to them and I am pretty sure I've seen a few with the brake booster mounted in the boot along with the battery. Also, You might want to check out an English magazine called CLASSIC FORD. It's a brilliant magazine with alot of tech articles in it. I hope I have been able to help you. revcore.

hi im in the proccess of build a mk2 escort i have been looking around for a while for parts snd there are a few companys that will sell you kits to what you want to do. you just need a bias pedal box and a rear disc conversion kit. there are two places i have found that seemed to be helpful but i haven't done anything about it yet as im buy a house at the moment. but anyway there is twin cam services in vic they seem a bit pricey but people say they sell good stuff. but closer to you there is a guy who builds race escort and his prices seemed a lot better whenn i talk tol him. he will proably be the guy to talk to to do any major work on you ar i think. h has a web site and that has his contact numbers on it.
its http://www.rallytorque.com.au/ hope this helps |

Their great little cars. I had a white 1980 sundowner p/van with 2lt and twin webbers. It also had air con. I regret I ever sold it. You can get the pinto mtrs to go very well. But I have seen a lot of import mtrs being put into them even a fiat 2litre nowdays. Good luck with your project. Yes I must admit the brakes are a weak point with them.
buickman In melb we have a small ford day. Try this web site for details as a few good mods show up at this show for Escorts http://www.rsocvic.com/rsocsfs.htm |

how ya going beefcake.
yes you can legaly have a remote brake master/booster setup on your escort with out having to get it mod plated. escort twin cams came from the factory exactly how you want to do it. so like someone said befor join the RS owners club or the small ford club. there will be heaps of people there to help you out. i would also recomend trying to find a magazine call CLASIC FORD but you need to find the UK issues to get the escort stuff. your diff is also very easy to fix. hilux diffs need no modification to fit in. the spring plates are in the exact spot you need and the diff is only 2cm wider than the escort one. you just need to mod the axles for the right stud patern. beleive it or not there is also alot of off the shelf brake upgrades for escorts. from the like of AP racing and wilwood brakes. you should PM me if you have any Q's at all about escorts. because at the risk of sounding like i'm a no it all I KNOW s**t LOADS ABOUT THEM |

Contact Fast Fours, as I've seen a few articles on brake and diff modifications for Escorts. I also remember an SR20 conversion in a MKII in there, but it was a while back.
I'm sure they could help you locate the right back-issues. |

I have just finished putting sr20 turbo, falcon diff, different brakes and everything else. THe conversion is not to tricky but it is best to start with auto body as it has bigger tunnel. The twin cam model mark 1 has a remote mounted booster. This means that the master cyclinder comes back off you pedal box pointing towards you and connects to a reservoir mounted out of the way just near the bonnet hinge. If you get the twin cam pedal box (i have one if you want to buy) you can also use the hydraulic clutch setup to work with your sr20 gearbox. THis is what i did. This will not give you any adjustment for your rear brakes but i have just used a willwood proportioning valve which works fine.
Anyway - the conversion is sick - good luck getting traction. I have run flat 14's in mine with wheelspin, s**t tuning, 7psi and 5.5k rev limit. Potention should be easy 12's if you get traction as the car is so light. Contact me if you have any other queries with the conversion - i know that some parts were tricky. |
