yeah, I did the whole exhaust thing..
but putting the XR6 cam in made more of a difference. Amazing that more people don't put cams in.. mine was 80 bucks on Ebay.. and I put a tapet cover gasket.. as long as the cam isn't reground and neither is your old one, you won't need shims.. its a cheap and easy to do upgrade. cost allot less then my exhaust and made more difference. |

thats coz you already had the exhaust done. if you hadda put the cam in first it wouldnt have done as much until you put on the exhaust. then you would say the exhaust did more, but in effect they are a hand in hand upgrade, because if you do one with out the other you dont get half as much as doing both together.
but point taken on money spent, 80 bucks is a scream. 1000-1400 bucks (depending on exhaust system) and probably close to 20kws more power. thats some good results for your dosh.

Not true..
The first thing I did, was put in the cam. Then the exhaust arrived from QLD. Then the extractors and 3" cat were installed. The cam made a big diff, the exhaust made a pretty decent diff as well.. but by that time it was flowing fairly well so the extractors and cat didn't make as noticeable diff... what difference there is is all up top.The pod filter made more difference than the extractors in general driving.. (low to midrange) pardon the pun, but I expect changing the diff, to a lower ratio will make the most diff yet.. |

Hi,
Ran the I6 but didnt run the V8. The EL Ghia with mods described above ran 15.64. Didnt run the V8 as im changing the exhaust tomorrow and servicing it with new plugs, distributor cap etc. I will run it nxt week. Hope to get the I6 side by side as different day may mean different conditions, heat etc. fair time for the I6
