i cant afford a new engine mount, one of mine has collapsed. i was wondering how long a second hand one might last??? i know that it depends on how much of a thrashing the last engine it was on copped.

i'm just trying to justify the price of a new one compared to 2nd hand.

I've had a secondhand one in for over 3 years and no problems, all depends what you get.

They only cost 25 bucks at repco anyway...

I didn't want to have to change it anytime soon. (like after a burnout or something) so I went with new..

still, 2nd better then broken one right?

Genuine 'round' EF ford dampened ones are around $200ea.

Kelpro rectangle rubber blocks from repco are cheap, will work, however not as good.

Get a second hand from a low K auto.

all sorts of things! You can break the other mount, engine can hit bonnet, engine coming up will put stress on gearbox mounts, so on so forth so it a chain reaction of things going wrong!

they should be fine iv seen cars with 400,000 on the clock on original engin mounts, its just one of those things they will last for ever or break

I drove around for 5 years or more with a busted engine mount.. didn't really notice it.. suspected it might be gone, but didn't know for sure till I lifed the engine out and half of the mount stayed in the car despite being unbolted.

nope, most obvious sign was a bad stutter when you took off hard in reverse.. but most of the time I drove really easy, so no probs.
