Hi all,

I keep seeing mention of these ECU units like EDIT or UNICHIP and was wondering whether they are better than factory ECU's so was hoping someone might educate me a little as I have a 1991 NA Fairlane I6 3.9lt and thought maybe good for my car.

(1) What benfits are there using them???

(2) How much are they and where do you get them???

(3) Are they viable for 3.9lt I6???

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Wes

4Dlvr,

That's fine ......Just don't leave unhelpful comments. Most forum users are genuinely helpful to others. Also if you have nothins intelligent to say don't say it.......Simple.

(1) What benfits are there using them??? On a stock car there is next to no benefit, on a modified car you can finetune the AFRs to make peak power and torque without leaning out or running too rich

(2) How much are they and where do you get them??? prices vary depending on what they are, CAPA and ChipTorque are a few that sell them, CAPA Eliminator switch for E-Series retails for roughly $600

(3) Are they viable for 3.9lt I6??? Quite simply, Yes

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Wes

for a stock EL falcon they gain around 8-10rwkw all through the rev range which is pretty good. They are around $1300 fitted and dyno tuned.

Dyno sheets on Airpowersystems site if you want to have a look http://www.airpowersystems.com/unichip/ ... tions.html
