got it started!

woot!
to get it started, we UNPLUGGED the lekki connections to the aux air valve and started it like that.

new problem:
no oil pressure and the rocker gear is VERY VERY noisy.
(dash reads in the read for the oil pressure - but 1month ago, when cranking the engine when we first had problems starting it, the oil pressure would stedily CLIMB and IF it started then it would stay stable.

now it just stays in the red all the time.
checked all wires to the oil sender unit - all fine.

if its not one thing... its another!
someone remind me why im doing this?! PLEASE!

your jokeing it was the Aux air valve after all that! see me 1st thought on msn was right!

only 1 true way to check oil pressure and thats with a mechanical guqage, my xe had a faulty sender AND a burn out copper track in the cluster! thats why it read no presure

haha yeah i know - i prolly did kill it when i had the hoses off and cleaning with carby cleaner!

as the engine is more noisy than they 'normally' are, i am likely to bet that there IS a lack of oil pressure.

it now fires - but does not 'run'

when starting it sounds healthy - when it runs on (before it dies) it sounds healthy then too - it 'runs' for 2 - 5seconds before dieing.

still have no oil pressure still :S

ideas as to why shes not running now?

the only way she starts, is with the plug to the aux air unplugged.

(trying to get a hold of a ford diagnostic tool - i got a friend who may be able to get me one - hopefully :D)

got a new aux air valve today in the mail
put it on, tried to fire it... STILL no luck.

both with the ecu loom connector on and off the aux air valve.

we have good pressure up at the rail - when the pump works...

it seems that the fuel pump does not prime EVERY time you turn from acc to ign, and its most always not running at all when CRANKING the motor.
tried 2 different efi relays - both with the same result.

the pump is 'new' and i *know* it works as its hardly been used.
(brought it new 2years ago.. put it in a zl fairlane, started it with that pump maybe 10 or so times, then i got rid of the fairlane but took the fuel pump out. since then it has been sitting in the cupboard.)

its almost as if there is a kill switch in use on this beast - (If) it fires/starts, it shuts down straight away.

timing right, good spark, new spark plug leads, new dizzy, new rotor cap, new plugs, good injectors, good aux air valve, good AFM, good efi relay, good battery - the fuel pump should be good (couldnt have died...), no intake leaks.

i feel like everything either side of the block has been replaced!

HELP!
PLEASE

cheers

*new* (wreckers) TPS later - and she STARTED and RAN!

but.. something went amiss.. and now shes not starting atm.

hoping might be that the battery has drained down a lot - its on charge atm.

it died when we tried to move the ltd off the driveway, out of park, into drive, and put foot down a bit (tyres are a lil flat so needs a lil extra encouragment to move) - splutter splutter f@rt DIE

the sump was overfull with oil - thats why i wasnt getting oil up top.

flushed the whole lot out with a cups worth of Kero into the oil filler, let sit and then dropped the thinned oil (20L worth   !!) and then flushed some black oil back thru it a couple of times.
change of filter and its good to go again!

also

IT STARTS!
IT RUNS!
IT IDLES!
very happy.

seems the afm that i got from the wreckers isnt a worker afterall - so il be going back there tomorrow!

seems i changed a LOT of things.. when i didnt need too, it seems that the only thing that was actually wrong with it was the friggin TPS!

i have a video of it - but il get around to hosting it on imageshack later tonight when i get it off my phone.

seems that it might be running a lil lean maybe - but im not worried about that too much atm.

**EDIT - http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v146/ ... 007011.flv
this is a 4mb movie, so prolly NOT dailup friendly.

wet passenger floors in x series is usually the antenna lead grommet the lead hangs down to the hole in the kick panel right above ecu. rain equals water in passenger side only!!
