Howdy, I v'e got a 3.3 litre XD-XF head with the cast number E2 on it. Will it fit on a 4.1 with carby, or maybe the better question is what engines and intake configurations (carby, injection etc) would this head fit?

Thanks

Is it a steel or alloy head? -

3.3's never came out injected. injected was only alloy heads, with a small notch in the port ofr injectors.

The Steel head will fit on the steel head blocks, and the alloy head blocks (if you remove the dowel). The Alloy head can be used on either, however without the dowels you will probably get head movement and a blown head gasket.

The XC Steel head 4.1 has 41mm inlet ports, and I think the XD Steel head has 38mm inlet ports. Economy or something. The alloy heads were all 38mm or so

As far as I know nothing stops you from using 3.3 head on 4.1 and vice versa. Unless you want your head gasket to last.

And an interesting point - the Alloy heads are very very versatile. I had one go to superflow heads, came back with intake ports the size of the XC Steel head 4.1's... flowed very nice.

Sorry, forgot to say it was an alloy one. So if I read the post correctly I can fit it to a 4.1. Thanks for the info...

BTW the older heads are iron, not steel
