Don't know what brand of DMM you have there, but I use a Fluke 87 for most of my work. This model has a direct frequency readout and there is a function button with the legend "Hz" for Hertz or the old Cycles per second. With this function active I can measure low frequency signals up to, I think 60 kHz. (but dont quote me on the upper frequency limit, I have to check the manual )
I have never used any other brand but Fluke, so can only take a stab in the dark as to what you have available on your multimeter.

is it red positive lead onto Map terminal B and black lead onto an earth point?

ignition on or off?

also in terms of TPS, manual says fully open 500 ohms, but mine is about 360 ohms and i tested heaps at the wreckers which were all about 330K.

am i worth getting a new item with full resistance?
