anybody know why the ea-el thermo has a spring load valve on the bottom of the thermo and the au2 doesnt

i heard a rumour that the spring plate on the lower part of the thermostat was restricting water flow to the heater hose pipe that runs off the lower thermostat housing?

yes that is what it was designed to do but on the later e-series and from then on it was deleted cars on lpg should have that bypass removed as well fro better flow to the converter and for fuel maps for the lpg
