gday all,
was wondering if anyone chould help me out.

iv got an I6 EF fairmont, having a bit of running issues.

for starters, some time ago i noticed a decrese in power, like a slipping auto but it was still moveing just makeing more noise than normal.

the next thing i noticed was that fuel consumption was up nearly 4-5 liters.

now today im driveing along, and notice a whole heap of black smoke being dumped out of the back.
now i have pacies and a 2 1/2 but i dont think this is relivant

but the problem is becomeing rather concerning, whould i be correct to assume that this is MAP sensor related?

also the car frequently surges pretty hard, dont know if this is related.
any help would be appriciated.
cheers all

Sounds like it might be the MAP sensor.

They can sh!t themselves anytime. You need a multimeter that measures Hz. ( Hertz). I can't remember the figure, 60 or 160 Hz. You need to measure that at the ECU, as in back probe it.
I had this happen to me, and found the aftermarket MAP sensor to be sh!t, and bought a genuine one and fixed it.

Faulty plug(s)?
Faulty Coil / Leads
Fuel Pressure Reg
Faulty Temp Sensor

Do a plug check.
Do a compression test.
