I have an EF Gli wagon with cruise control factory fitted.
what differences, if any are there between the standard wiring loom and the factory cruise loom. can this make any mods easier at all?

Depends on if your car has ABS Brakes.
If so, then the engine bay wiring will have the 'works' including low washer float, ambient temp wiring etc, everything thats on a fairmont. SLS is only on Fairlane/Ltd iirc. The addon cruise factory loom consists of 7 wires (i think) that are mearly pushed into the cabin and joined to the dash loom. You may be able to see if the loom is added or joined by following it to the firewall rubber bung. If its taped together and leads to one group going into the firewall, chances are its a abs loom. if its runs beside it to the bung... its added :/ Benefits of ABS loom, 1: ABS Brakes. 2: Low level warning on washer bottle. 3: Low level warning on recovery bottle (coolant). 4: Ambient temp wires on horn loom (good for CLimate upgrade). 5: PNP Cruise! clear that up?

not true.. you can wire up everything you want, you just need to upgrade BEM and run your own wires if you don't want to replace the loom

running wires is quite a hassle for me and is time consuming, i was hoping that the loom was already there. i might upgrade the BEM, i want fading interior lights and variable wipers. i'm going to install some courtesy lights in the doors too.

you either need to run the wires or replace the loom... all th extra 'features' require a wire lol
but it is all part of modding your car, i've done the complete fairmont loom replacement and have it all now!
