probably almost normal then... batteries dont last forever...
even with full fluid in all the cells in the battery that came with my car it died... one day it just went flat, jump started, seemed ok, hard to start the next day and bang that night had to get a jump again... all the cells looked fine... just top it up and as long as it starts the car who cares... and to be honest, since you are selling it, just use tap water it wont kill it over night... however i do enjoy the fact my car starts twice as fast and very easily since i dropped one of my optimas in

I agree, but some advice given out by the uneducated on here can be scary, luckily its usually picked up and put straight, but still scary.

What you're doing is checking the 'specific gravity' of the electrolyte hey i got one of them with my beer kit....... can i use that?, and what reading should it be as a minimum to be classed as in good condition? |

battery hydrometers have a rubber bulb on the end so you can suck the fluid out of the cell safely (it is acid after all) off the top of my head i couldnt tell you if they have the same scale though... maybe

lol for some reason i thought the same thing yet i know the beer sample is taken into a tube, not tested in the fermenter haha

Four years isnt bad. I got a new racv battery that cost me $150 520cca 100rc and the piece of garbage failed in four months. I waited for them to come out for 1 1/2 hours in the freezing to be told that they will only give me a 500 now as they dont make 520 anymore. I told them i will have a 550 instead and he tried to tell me they dont fit. I said rubbish they are the same size. He then told me racv dont give out batteries any larger than it had they must be equal or smaller. I was p****d at that and said i would complain. I complained and they wanted the origanal reciept that i couldnt find. The new 500cca lasted 8 months. You cant even fill the fluid. I am NEVER going to buy thier s**t again and they are even worse now made in korea. I would recommend getting a Second hand one usually $30 or an exide evolution which is what i had in the car for 3years and always strong.

The one I just pulled out was an Exide battery. 5+ years that battery lasted.
But you the new one wont. But seeing as I'm selling the car meh! |
