well i knew i had low oil pressure but when i tap into the odometer instrument diagnostics, the oil pressure reading is zero and doesnt move an inch.
i want to know how to source out where the fault is, i have a brand new pressure switch installed btw. I'm a noob when it comes to electronics and need to know how to test the voltage/resistance/whatever and what readings i should get from the oil pressure connector/ ecu pin (which pin?)) etc as i was playing around and didnt know what i was doing, i put black to an earth point and red to the connector and it gave 0.02 mV .. Am i even close?? also, is the only way to test a MAP sensor to backprobe the sensor with the car running?? thankss alot. |

Providing you have a Futura with no Oil gauge, then the Instrument cluster WILL only display 0.
You have an OIL Switch. Not a Sender Unit. The diagnostics only shows variables on Fairmonts/XR/Police etc. The reason the Cluster has the option is merely manufacturing and the feature is in there. The Oil Switch only gives an ON/OFF reading for the idiot light, a sender gives resistance for the gauge and therefore the 1-9bar in the LCD will work. I hope this explains it, as im pretty unstable atm!
