Driving out the driveday this morning (2 weeks after major service) and car just stopped...
When trying to restart, noticed that Fuel Pump wasn't priming when the ignition was switched to "on." NRMA called (in the pouring rain of course) and checks the Fuel Pump. Yep, not pumping. What are the chances of this being a fuel pump, or just a Relay, or Fuse? (looked for a fuse, couldn't find one that seemed to relate) If its a fuel pump, what will be the $$ damage? |

Hi, there is a relay for the pump mounted under the radiator bottle. From memory its the second one as seen from the engine. The chances of this being shot are pretty low. I would be prepared to fit a new fuel pump. Expect to pay around $80-$100 for warranted non genuine item + fitting (about 1 hours worth of labour)

you should be able to fit a new pump yourself. Open the service cover under the seat and use a tester to check if voltage is present first to eliminate electrical faults.

Resolved.
Ended up being a rooted fuel pump. Local garage fixed it in a few hours, fitted and installed for $265 (not bad... he also happened to have one on the shelf, which for a small garage is pretty good.) Car runs fine again. |
